Great piece Miranda, and good to know that I'm not the only person who's hyper-critical of their own playlist machinations. I also definitely agree on the hesitancy to embrace 'old dude rock.' I had a similar thing happen with The Afghan Whigs that coincided with my last major breakup (funny how that works, huh?). Similar to The Hold Steady, it's the type of thing that once it clicks for you on a personal, contextual level, it never really goes away either.
